Ingersoll Goal Not Enough as Bentley Falls to Southern New Hampshire, 2-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Bentley University junior forward Keally Ingersoll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge HS) scored her second goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the Falcons dropped a 2-1 decision to Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.

Ingersoll's goal, which completed the game's scoring with 6:37 left, was assisted by classmate Tess Anderson (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS). It was Anderson's 32nd point of the season, fourth most in the conference.

Southern New Hampshire (8-5, 6-2 NE10) grabbed an early lead when  junior Cassidy Huckins (Loudon, N.H.) scored her eighth of the season only 72 seconds into the contest.

Junior forward Laura van der Doom (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) made it a two-goal game 11-and-a-half minutes into the second half. The unassisted goal was her fifth of the season.

Senior Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) made three saves for the Penmen while Bentley sophomore Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow HS) was credited with eight.

Shots favored SNHU, 20-9, and the Penmen had a 6-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Bentley (9-7, 4-7 NE10) will next play Tuesday afternoon at Franklin Pierce.
