Anderson Scores 4 as Bentley Rolls to 7-0 Win over New Haven

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior forward Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS) scored four goals, two in each half, as Bentley University prevailed over visiting University of New Haven, 7-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Friday afternoon.

Bentley, after outshooting the Chargers 33-2, improved to 8-4 overall, including 4-3 conference. New Haven dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-6 NE10.

The Falcons were up 2-0 before the game was nine minutes old. Senior forward Morgan Van Epps (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) struck first in the fifth minute with the first of her two goals, and Anderson tallied her first with 26:27 left in the opening stanza.

The same two scored about a minute apart late in the half with Anderson putting the ball in the net with 4:16 left and Van Epps following with 3:13 remaining before the break.

In the second half, Anderson scored with 30:48 and 8:49 left, with a goal from sophomore Sam Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) sandwiched in between with 25:34 on the clock.

Anderson's four goals boosted her season total to 14, second most in the Northeast-10 and the most by a Bentley player since Stephanie Sideris had 15 in 2011.

Sharing the goaltending duties were sophomore Tatiano Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow HS) and freshman Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS). Neither was credited with a save.

For New Haven, sophomore Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn.) finished with 12 saves.

The next game for Bentley is Wednesday at home against Adelphi.
