BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior forward Tess Anderson (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) scored twice, including the game-winner just 69 seconds into overtime, to lift Bentley University to a 4-3 win over LIU Post, the third-ranked team in Division II preseason, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at Bethpage Stadium.

Bentley improved to 2-1 overall while LIU Post, whose season-opener against West Chester on Thursday was suspended, was playing its first official game of the season. It was the first NE10 contest of the season for both clubs.

Anderson, who posted her second two-goal game of the season, deflected the ball into the cage after a long ball was played into the circle. Junior Keally Ingersoll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge HS) was credited with the assist.

After a scoreless first half, senior All-America Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.) gave the Pioneers a lead in the opening minute of the second.

Bentley countered with three rapid-fire goals, going from down 1-0 to up 3-1 in a span of just 5:39. Senior Niki Neidhart (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) scored the equalizer, Anderson gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead and junior Sam Pavano (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) made it a 3-1 game. Senior co-captain Rachel Crowley (Leicester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) assisted on both Neidhart's and Pavano's goals.

LIU Post, which reached the NCAA Division II national championship game in 2017, battled back to tie the game on goals by sophomore Sammy Bell (Glasgow, Scotland) in the 54th minutes and senior Tarryn Morris (New Cumberland, Pa.) in the 61st.

Both goalies, Bentley senior Jana Mones (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and LIU Post sophomore Rachel Vellis (Wayne, N.J.), finished with seven saves. The Pioneers had the edge in both shots, 16-12, and penalty corners, 9-7.

Bentley will remain on Long Island for a 1:30 pm game at Molloy College Sunday.
