Anderson, Van Epps Each Score Twice as Bentley Tops Adelphi, 4-1

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- Junior Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS) and senior Morgan Van Epps (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS) both scored twice to lead Bentley University to a 4-1 season-opening non-conference win over Adelphi University in college field hockey on Motamed Field Saturday afternoon.

After an early Panther goal, Anderson netted the equalizer with 11:33 left in the first half after knocking in a rebound following multiple shots on net by the Falcons.

The second half was all Bentley with a run of three unanswered beginning with a goal from Van Epps with 3:17 elapsed. Following a feed from senior Janelle Magoon (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry HS), she drove down the right side and fired the ball into the cage.

Van Epps scored again eight-and-a-half minutes later and Anderson tacked on an insurance goal with 18 minutes to play. Both were scored from the left side.

Senior Jana Mones (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) made six saves to earn the win in net for the Falcons while freshman Leah Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) was credited with three stops for Adelphi (0-1).

Shots were even at 12 apiece and Adelphi held the edge in penalty corners, 9-6.

Bentley will be back in action Monday with a 10 am home game against West Chester University. Due to Monday's expected heat and humidity, the starting time has been moved up two hours.
