Franklin Pierce Outlasts Bentley in 2-OT, 4-3

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville) completed her hat trick 8:16 into the second overtime to give Franklin Pierce University a 4-3 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action on the Bentley Turf Field Saturday afternoon.

Moulton's game-winner, a blast from just inside the circle after a corner entry pass from junior Dayna Kowesky (Leominster), was her ninth goal of the season. She had staked the Ravens to an early 2-0 with a pair of goals in the first 4:32.

By intermission, the two teams were tied after the Falcons struck for two in the final 6:02 of the half. Senior Taylor Kane (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS), playing in her 70th consecutive game, got the Falcons on the board with her first of the season and junior Mikayla Ullrich (Montclair, N.J./Montclair HS) scored the equalizer with 76 seconds remaining until the break.

Bentley took a 3-2 lead in the opening minute of the second half when sophomore Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS) controlled a loose ball in front of the net and knocked it into the cage. The goal was her first of the season and third career.

The lead didn't hold up long as Franklin Pierce drew even on a Moulton-assisted goal, scored by junior Ashley Silva (Laconia, N.H.) 3:23 into the second.

Senior Meaghan Williams (Salem, N.H.) earned the win in net for the Ravens, making three saves, while freshman Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow HS) was credited with five for Bentley.

Shots (22-15) and penalty corners (15-12) both favored Franklin Pierce, which improved to 10-6 overall and 7-4 NE10. Bentley slipped to 4-11 (4-7 NE10).

Bentley will play its final road game of the season Tuesday afternoon at Merrimack (4 pm).
