Saint Anselm Shuts Out Bentley, 3-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College freshman goalie Julia Hand (Reading, Mass.) posted her sixth shutout of the season and was supported by goals from three different players as Division II's third-ranked team topped Bentley University, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Friday evening at Grappone Stadium.

Hand and the Hawks received the only goal they would need when senior Katie Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.) scored her second of the season in the 14th minute on a shot from outside.

Saint Anselm (13-1, 7-1 NE10) picked up a couple insurance goals in the second half with senior Emma Kincaid (West Bridgewater, Mass.) netting her eighth with 24:36 left and sophomore Michelle Lemelin (Chelsea, Maine) tallying her third about ten minutes later.

Hand needed to make only one save while Bentley freshman Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./ Joel Barlow HS) finished with five saves.

Saint Anselm controlled play throughout, amassing 20 shots and 11 penalty corners. In sharp contrast, Bentley got off only one shot and attempted only two corners.

Bentley (3-10, 3-6 NE10) is back in action Wednesday for a 4 pm home game against St. Michael's.
