GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Second-half goals from freshman Danielle Kempf (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and junior Kate Manson (Huntington Station, N.Y.) proved to be the difference as Adelphi University blanked Bentley University, 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Monday afternoon at stormy Motamed Field.
Kempf broke the scoreless tie with 19:30 left in the second half, netting her sixth of the season on a shot from the right side.
The Panthers (4-8, 2-5 NE10) bolstered their lead eight minutes later with Manson knocking the ball into the cage following a failed clear attempt.
Adelphi senior Amanda Gargiulo (Westbury, N.Y.) made two saves en route to the shutout while freshman Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow HS) recorded eight saves for Bentley.
Adelphi had a significant edge in shots and penalty corners, having 17 of each as compared to six of each for the visiting Falcons.
Bentley (3-7, 3-5 NE10) will return to action Friday night at nationally-ranked Saint Anselm.
