Late Barrage by No. 7 Pace Sinks Bentley, Snapping Falcons’ Win Streak at 3

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following more than 60 scoreless minutes, Pace University erupted for three goals in the final 8:32 to snap Bentley University's win streak at three and claim a 3-0 victory in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Finnerty Field Saturday afternoon.

With the Falcons playing a man-down following their third green card of the game, Pace junior Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, N.Y.) gave the seventh-ranked team in Division II the advantage with her fifth goal of the season. She knocked the ball into the cage following a cross from the right side delivered by freshman Lisette de Bruin (Bilthoven Netherlands).

The goal was the first allowed by Bentley in more than 238 minutes over the course of four games.

Freshman Aniek Kroezen (Leidschendam, Netherlands) made it a 2-0 game 90 seconds later and junior Jane Kasparian (Mahopac, N.Y.) closed out the scoring with 4:49 left.

Freshman Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow HS) made seven saves for Bentley and Lesly Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, Conn.) matched her for Pace.

Once-beaten Pace, which held the edge in shots (14-9) and penalty corners (14-3), improved to 11-1 overall and 5-1 conference.

Bentley (3-8, 3-4 NE10) is also in New York Monday for a noon encounter at Adelphi.
