No. 8 Assumption Gets By Bentley in OT, 1-0; Falcons Seeded 6th in Upcoming NE-10 Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H.) scored her seventh goal of the season with 14 seconds left in the first overtime period to give Assumption College, the eighth-ranked team in Division II, a 1-0 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey at the Multi-Sport Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Bentley, which qualified for the conference championships with a win over LIU Post by an identical score Wednesday night, will be the number six seed in the tourney and will play at number three Merrimack Tuesday at 4 pm.

Frahm fielded a hit from senior Allison Juneau (Auburn) on a penalty corner and sent it into the cage from just inside the circle.

The goal ended a string of over 236 scoreless minutes for Bentley and junior goalie Evelyn Schaedel (Burlington, Vt./Burlington HS). She was credited with ten saves, tying her career-best. The Falcons also received a defensive save from sophomore Caitlin Derrickson (Lawrence/Central Catholic HS).

Bentley, which was outshot 15-4 by the Hounds, had three of its four shots and two of its five penalty corners during overtime when the team picked up its offensive intensity.

Sophomore Bridget Boyle (Stow) made two saves and Juneau had a defensive stop for Assumption (13-5, 10-2 NE-10), which clinched a share of the regular season title and will be the second-seed in the NE-10 championships.
