Franklin Pierce Hands Bentley 2-1 Loss Despite 10 Saves by Kelley

RINDGE, N.H. – Sophomore Kenedy Kelly (Plymouth, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season 6:25 into the second half to propel Franklin Pierce University to a 2-1 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Thursday afternoon at Sodexo Field.

Bentley fell for the fourth time in its last five games despite receiving 10 saves from junior Katie Kelley (Walpole, Mass./Walpole HS). The outcome dropped the Falcons to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in NE-10 play.

After Kelley withstood an early barrage by the Ravens by making six saves in the first ten minutes, the game stayed scoreless until freshman Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) beat the Falcon netminder for the game's first goal 7:16 before the halftime break.

Just about four minutes later, Bentley junior Becca Moore (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS) netted the equalizer, knocking in a rebound, after a save by freshman Meaghan Williams (Salem, N.H.) for her fourth goals of the season.

Williams made five saves for the Ravens (6-7, 3-3 NE-10) as her team finished with a 16-9 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in penalty corners.

Bentley will look to get back on track Saturday when it begins November at American International (4:00 pm).
