WALTHAM, Mass. -- Senior forward Colleen Moran (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln HS) came off the bench for a hat trick and an assist, helping to power Bentley University to an 8-0 win over visiting Dowling College in non-conference field hockey action Sunday afternoon.
Bentley, currently ranked ninth nationally in Division II, did not allow a shot or a penalty corner en route to its seventh win in ten games this fall. Dowling remained winless in its first season of play, falling to 0-6.
Moran was responsible for the Falcons' second, third and seventh scores of the afternoon, with the goals the first of her career.
Junior Gina Lirange (Auburn/Auburn HS) also had a productive afternoon as she had a hand in each of Bentley's three first-half goals. She netted her ninth of the year at 9:08, a goal that proved to be the game-winner, and provided the assist on both of Moran's first two goals, at 15:13 and 29:03.
Also scoring for the Falcons were senior Brandy Asplundh (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Academy of the New Church HS) and sophomores Sally James (Mequon, Wisc./Univ. School of Milwaukee HS), Leah Winer (Longmeadow/Longmeadow HS) and Savannah Febesh (Carle Place, N.Y./Friends Academy).
Combining on Bentley's Division II-leading seventh shutout were sophomore Katie Kelley (Walpole/Walpole HS) and freshman Evelyn Schaedel (Burlington, Vt./Burlington HS). Neither had to make a save in the contest as all 35 saves and 15 penalty corners were attempted by their Falcon teammates.
Bentley will return to Northeast-10 action Wednesday night with a 7 pm contest at Merrimack College.
