Peter Leonard, a 2002 graduate of Assumption College, is in his sixth season on the Bentley University coaching staff and his fifth as the Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. He joined the Bentley staff in 2014, serving as the linebackers coach in his first season with the Falcons, and was promoted to Defensive Coordinator in 2015. He also works with the inside linebackers.

Leonard was previously on the football coaching staff at Assumption College and the College of Holy Cross. Before joining Coach Bill Kavanaugh's staff, he served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at his alma mater for four seasons (2009-2012).

Leonard began his coaching career as a defensive graduate assistant at Assumption in 2003. He coached the Greyhound linebackers the following season, served as defensive coordinator from 2004-07 and was Assumption’s interim head coach early in 2008. Leonard spent the 2008 season coaching the defensive secondary at Holy Cross before returning to the Hounds’ staff.

Leonard, a Worcester native, received his Bachelor’s degree in management and earned his MBA from Assumption in 2004. As a student-athlete for the Hounds, he was a three-year starter who finished his career with 259 tackles.

Leonard and his wife, Lauren, have a daughter, Piper, who was born in the spring.

Leonard’s sister, Liz, was a three-year starter for the Bentley women’s basketball team from 1999-2003.
