Bentley Runs Past Franklin Pierce, 70-0, to Move into Tie for 1st Place

RINDGE, N.H. – Junior tailback Andrew Brazicki (Franklin Park, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) rushed for 170 yards and three of his team's school-record ten touchdowns as the Bentley University Falcons cruised to a 70-0 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference football at cold Sodexho Field Saturday afternoon.

The highest scoring output in program history allowed Bentley to extend its winning streak to four and move into a four-way tie for first place in the conference, with one game to play. The Falcons improved to 5-4 overall and 5-2 NE10 while the Ravens fell to 1-9 (0-8 NE10).

Bentley's ten rushing touchdowns was the most by any Division II team since Colorado Mines in October 2016 and also broke the conference record. The Falcons totaled 474 rushing yards, missing out on a 27-year-old school record by just two.

The Falcons, who scored at least 14 points in every quarter, built a 14-0 first-quarter lead on a pair of touchdowns from freshman Nathaniel Larkins (Huntington, N.Y./John Glenn HS). Both capped long drives with a one-yard plunge finishing a 12-play, 80-yard drive and a 10-yarder capping an eight-play, 76-yard drive.

Bentley erupted for 28 points in the second to take a commanding 42-0 lead into intermission. Junior QB Stephen Sturm (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) scored the first on a one-yard keeper and Brazicki had the next three, on runs of one, seven and six yards.

On three of the four second-quarter TDs, Bentley took possession inside the FPU 45 due to punting issues by the first-year program.

In the third, it was junior Brad Rogers (Hanover, Mass./Hanover HS) who reached the end zone twice with the touchdowns the first of his career. His first covered six yards and his second two yards, making it 56-0.

The fourth quarter saw Bentley add to the point total with touchdowns from senior Austin Triglia (Ramsey, N.J./Saint Joseph Reg. HS), on a five-yard run, and sophomore Anthony Doung (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS), who broke a 52-yarder.

Brazicki achieved his third career 100-yard game on 20 carries and had a long of 27. Duong reached exactly 100 on three carries and Larkins ran for 74 on 11 attempts. Rogers got the ball 11 times for 56 yards.

Bentley kept the ball on the ground most of the time with Sturm attempting only nine passes. He completed eight for 84 yards, including seven for 73 yards to senior Drew Mahoney (West Suffield, Conn./Suffield Academy), the Division II leader in receptions per game at the start of the day.

Bentley topped 500 yards offense for the second straight game, finishing with 558, and had 30 first downs.

Meanwhile, the Falcon defense limited Franklin Pierce to 162 yards total offense, with 73 of that coming during the first quarter.

Junior linebacker Marc Doran (Ramsey, N.J./Saint Joseph Reg. HS) led Bentley in tackles with seven, including one of the Falcons' five sacks.

Next Saturday, with a share of the conference championship at stake, the Falcons will host American International College on Senior Day.
