Collins Named Northeast-10 Special Teams Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore kick returned Isaiah Collins (Dorchester Center/Belmont Hill School) has been named the Special Teams Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The NE10 leader in combined kick return yards had a 97-yard kickoff return for a TD against Assumption, becoming the first conference player this season to take one the distance, and finished with six returns for 147 yards. His 97-yarder broke a 27-year-old school record and it was the first kickoff return for a TD by a Bentley player since 2011.

Collins, through four games for the 1-3 Falcons, is averaging 27.1 yards per return, ranking third in the conference in that category.

Two other Falcons, senior Drew Mahoney (West Suffield, Conn./Suffield Academy) and sophomore Noah Neville (Boston/Newton North HS), were also recognized with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll.

Mahoney reached double figures in receptions for the third straight game, finishing with 10 for 104 and one TD in the Falcons' 45-42 overtime loss at Assumption. His TD catch of eight yards tied the game at 42 with 2:08 left. He continues to lead Division II in receptions per game, averaging an even ten. For the season, he has 40 catches for 394 yards and two TDs.

Neville had a career game with five catches for 120 yards and two TDs. His touchdowns covered 35 and 56 yards. He has 13 catches for 188 yards and two scores, and his 14.5 average per reception leads the team.

Bentley's next game is Saturday afternoon at home against Southern Connecticut State.
