WALTHAM, Mass. – Six former Bentley University football players, all members of the Class of 2019, were recently named to the 2019 Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation for their success in the classroom during their collegiate careers.

They were wide receiver Michael Correia (Fall River/Durfee HS), offensive linemen Ryan Finn (Centerport, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS) and Jack Hansbury (Tyngsboro/Chelmsford HS) and a trio of linebackers: Nick Athy (Holliston/Holliston HS), Andrew Carmichael (Wayland/Wayland HS) and Brian Kirby (Gleneig, Md./River Hill HS).

Requirements for earning Hampshire Honor Society recognition include achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, completing their eligibility during the 2018 season and being a starter or important reserve,

Bentley's six honorees was a Northeast-10 Conference-high and was tied for the eighth most in Division II nationally.

Majors were corporate finance and accounting for Finn and Hansbury, finance for Athy and Kirby, marketing for Carmichael and professional sales for Correia. Athy and Hansbury were both two-time Academic All-Northeast-10 selections and and Hansbury received the NE10 Sport Excellence award for football.

Athy, twice an All-Northeast-10 honoree, and Hansbury both played in all 42 games during their careers. Carmichael played in 40, Correia 39, Finn 36 and Kirby 29.

Bentley finished the 2018 season with a 4-6 record.
