BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Rutgers University transfer Chris Laviano (Bayville, N.Y.) threw a pair of touchdown passes and senior Jake Carlock (Babylon, N.Y.) scored off a blocked punt as LIU Post stayed unbeaten with a 38-3 victory over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference football at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The afternoon started on a positive note for Bentley (1-3, 1-2 NE10) with the Falcons scoring their only points of the game off their opening drive.

On the second play of the game, sophomore running back Andrew Brazicki (Franklin Park, N.J./ Bishop Ahr HS) caught a short pass from classmate Stephen Sturm (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) and turned it into a 66-yard gain, the Falcons' longest of the season, to the Pioneer nine. After the drive stalled, junior Grant Buchanan (Holliston, Mass./Holliston HS) delivered a 20-yard field goal, his fifth of the season.

The Bentley D forced three-and-outs on the first two LIU Post possessions but the Pioneers (3-0, 3-0 NE10) came alive on their third. The eight-play, 69-yard drive was finished by senior Malik Pierre (Holbrook, N.Y.) on a ten-yard run and the home team had a lead it would never relinquish

Early in the second quarter, Bentley drove to the Pioneer 14 before an interception by junior safety Zach Cofranceso (East Haven, Conn.) denied the scoring opportunity.

Bentley failed to move the ball on its next possession and was forced into one of its nine punts. This one was blocked by Carlock and he recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown, giving his team a 14-3 advantage.

It was a 17-3 game when the two teams headed to the locker rooms for the break after LIU Post added to its lead on a 39-yard field goal by senior Joey Tolgyesi (Miami, Fla.).

The Pioneers broke the game open with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns, both thrown by Laviano. He teamed up with grad student Michael Richardson (West Babylon, N.Y.) on a 23-yarder and with Tim Marinan (Longwood, Fla.) from 16 yards out.

The final TD of the afternoon came on a 23-yard run by freshman running back Jonathan DeBique (Baldwin, N.Y.) with 5:25 left on the fourth-quarter clock.

Brazicki led the Bentley offense with 152 all-purpose yards. He carried the ball 17 times for 70 yards and finished with three receptions for 82 yards. Sturm, in three quarters of action, completed 16 of 25 for 165 yards.

Lavino threw for 250 yards while completing 18 of 33, and Pierre topped the century mark with 15 carries for 107 yards.

Bentley's only takeaway came on a third-quarter interception by junior corner Derek Perkins (Milton, Mass./Milton HS), his second of the season.

Bentley, which ran 77 plays and controlled the ball for 34:56, was outgained 422-327 overall. The Falcons gave up 20 first downs and were only four of 18 on third down conversion attempts.

Bentley will also be on the road next Saturday when the Falcons complete the first half of the season at New Haven.
