Leary Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – After coming off the bench to spark the Falcons to a win in their conference opener Friday afternoon, Bentley University sophomore quarterback Seamus Leary (Holden/St. Peter Marian HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week.

Leary, inserted into the game at the start of the third quarter with Bentley looking at a 16-0 deficit, led the Falcons to a come-from-behind 24-22 win at Southern Connecticut State in his collegiate game debut. He completed 10 of 13 for 117 yards, one TD and a 177.9 passing efficiency while also running for 51 yards and one TD on nine carries.

Leary, a former two-year captain at St. Peter Marian, prepped at Bridgton Academy before his arrival at Bentley in 2017. During his time at SPM, he threw for over 3,000 yards, rushed for over 1,000 and accounted for 43 touchdowns.

The Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included Bentley junior cornerback Derek Perkins (Milton/ Milton HS). He had a 41-yard pick-six and two solo tackles against the Owls. His second career interception evened the game at 16-all and set the stage for a go-ahead PAT.

This Saturday, Bentley will celebrate Homecoming with Merrimack College providing the opposition for the 2 pm game.
