WALTHAM, Mass. – The honors continued for Bentley University wide receiver Austin Ryan (Foxborough/Foxborough HS) on Friday when the freshman standout was selected for the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region second team by the region's sports information directors.

Ryan was the only freshman to earn All-East accolades, and in fact, the first to do so since 2014.

Ryan finished the season with an amazing 16 touchdowns, a total that is tied for the most nationally in Division II. Four of those came in a season-ending 35-31 win over nationally-ranked and current national semifinalist Assumption College with the distances covering 2, 60, 63 and 50 yards, the latter coming with 90 seconds left to give the Falcons a lead they would not relinquish.

Ryan, who made the most of his 49 receptions, also ranked in the top five in Division II in receiving yards (1,237) and yards per reception (a Bentley and Northeast-10 record 25.2). His receiving yards were the third most in program history and his 16 TD catches was good for fifth on Bentley's all-time single season list.

Previously, Ryan was named first-team All-Northeast-10 and was chosen Division II-III All-New England by the New England Football Writers.

Bentley finished the season at 6-4 with two victories over teams ranked in the top ten nationally at the time.
