WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a record-setting performance Saturday as the Falcons spoiled Assumption College's bid for a perfect regular season, Bentley University freshman wide receiver Austin Ryan (Foxborough/Foxborough HS) has been named both the Offensive Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

This is the fourth time that Ryan has been recognized as the conference's top rookie and his first as the NE10's top offensive player. A Falcon player has been cited for Rookie honors seven of the last nine weeks.

Ryan caught 8 passes for a school-record 284 yards and 4 TDs as Bentley went to Worcester and handed 8th-ranked Assumption a 35-31 loss. Half of his receptions covered at least 50 yards, including TD catches of 60, 63 and 50 yards.

The 63-yarder gave Bentley a 28-24 lead midway through the fourth and the 50-yarder was the game-winner, giving the Falcons a 35-31 lead with 1:34 left.

Ryan, who caught 16 TD passes this season, eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season, finishing with 1,237, and set an NE10 single season record for average yards per catch (25.2). He finished the game with 295 all-purpose running yards, the second time in three weeks he has surpassed 200.

Also recognized, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, were freshman quarterback Stephen Sturm (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) and junior safety Nick Athy (Holliston/Holliston HS).

Sturm completed 14 of 21 passes for a career-best 380 yards, four TDs to classmate Austin Ryan and no interceptions. His touchdown aerials covered 2, 60, 63 and 50 yards with all but the second one turning a three-point deficit into a four-point lead. It was the fourth time in as many career starts he has completed at least two-thirds of his passes.

Athy had double figure tackles for the third straight game, finishing with 11. Four of his stops were solos and he also had a half-tackle for loss. He finished the season with a team-leading 76 tackles.

Bentley finished the season with a 6-4 record.
