Brazicki Named Northeast-10 Football Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following his first career start and his first 100-yard rushing effort as a collegian, Bentley University freshman Andrew Brazicki (Franklin Lake, N.J./Bishop Ahr HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Football Rookie of the Week.

Brazicki got the ball 19 times in Saturday's 20-17 loss at Pace University, one that snapped a three-game winning streak, and responded with 109 yards. His day featured back-to-back rushes of 20 and 30 yards, and also included a seven-yard TD reception.

Midway through his rookie season, the six-foot, 210-pounder leads Bentley in rushing with 293 yards and a 5.5 per-carry average. He's scored four times, including three on the ground, and his average carry per rush ranks fifth best in the NE10 among players with at least 10 carries per game.

This marks the third time in the last four weeks that Bentley has had the conference's Rookie of the Week. Freshman wide receiver Austin Ryan (Foxborough/Foxborough HS) was recognized both Sept. 11 and Sept. 25.

Also recognized, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, were senior quarterback Mack Lowrie (Foxborough/Roxbury Latin School) and Drew Mahoney (West Suffield, Conn./Suffield Academy).

Lowrie completed 31 of 46 passes for 312 yards, all career-bests, with two touchdowns and one interception. His TDs covered 18 and seven yards.

Mahoney had a Northeast-10 single game high 15 receptions, good for 134 yards and one TD. He is second in the conference in receptions with 39. In the process, he surpassed 2,000 career all-purpose yards and moved to eighth on Bentley's all-time reception list (119)

Bentley, which completed the first half of the schedule at 3-2 overall and 3-1 NE10, returns to action Oct. 14 against American International.
