Hardy, McDonald & Beckwith Named to Hampshire Honor Society by National Football Foundation

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three recent Bentley University graduates, all of whom were All-Northeast-10 Conference honorees, were recently named to the 2017 Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. They are offensive lineman Eric Beckwith (North Attleboro/North Attleboro HS), Bryan Hardy (Barnstable/Barnstable HS) and safety Sam McDonald (Norfolk/King Philip Reg. HS).

The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average throughout their college careers. A total of 1,103 players from 302 schools qualified for membership in the society's 11th year, both new single-year records in the history of the program.

Requirements, in addition to a 3.2 GPA, include being a starter or a significant contributor in a player's last year of eligibility.

Hardy, a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America® and Bentley's Outstanding Male Senior Athlete, led the Falcons in tackles for the third straight year. His work both on the field and in the classroom was recognized with his selection for the Northeast-10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award. The Falcon co-captain totaled a school record 332 tackles during his career and was a first-team All-Northeast-10 honoree.

McDonald totaled 17 interceptions, second most in school history and in the top five in NE10 annals, during a career that included second-team Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA. Also one of the team's captains, he was voted to the All-NE10 second team and gave the Falcons 52 tackles and three interceptions during his final season.

Beckwith was a fixture on the offensive line for Bentley over the past four seasons, playing in 41 of 44 games with 35 starts. He garnered first-team All-Conference recognition as a senior after previously being twice selected to the second team.
