Waltham News Tribune: "Bentley University football team returns to familiar turf"

WALTHAM – Bill Kavanaugh returned to his alma mater as its head football coach a year ago with a rich tradition as a former player in the program and impressive coaching credentials outside of it on Bill O'Brien's staff at Penn State University.

There were high expectations and lots of enthusiasm as the Falcons took the field under the guidance of only their third head coach in the 28-year varsity history of the program

Those expectations received a lift when Bentley stormed out of the gate with a 27-21 victory against Mercyhurst. But the five losses in a row that followed – all by seven points or less – were an indication that the program was in a bit of a transition phase following Thom Boerman's retirement at the end of the previous season.
