Hill Named to Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-Super Region 1 First Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior wide receiver Jeff Hill (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) has been selected for the 2014 Don Hansen's Football Gazette Division II All-Super Region 1 first team. Super Region 1 includes players from the Northeast-10 Conference, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the Mountain East Conference and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Hill led the Northeast-10 in receiving yards (1,113), receiving yards per game (101.2) and touchdown catches (12) while earning first-team All-Conference recognition for the third straight year. His 68 catches ranked fifth in the NE-10 and he was second with an average of 16.4 yards per reception.

Nationally, the six-foot-four Hill was 12th in TD catches, 14th in receiving yards per game and 18th in receiving yards. He was the only East Region player to average at least 100 yards a game and score at least 12 touchdowns.

Hill, who ranks as one of the top three receivers in Bentley history, finished a standout career with 200 catches for 3,489 yards, 37 touchdowns and 224 points. Among all who played college football in 2014, only eight had more career TD receptions.

Hill's final season included five games with at least 100 yards and four with two TD catches. He was selected to the New England Football Writers Division II-III All-New England time for the second straight season, and previously received All-Super Region 1 recognition from the Beyond Sports Network.

Bentley finished the season with a 5-6 overall record after winning four of its last five.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.

The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2014 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team will be named later this month.
