As a marketing major and a budding analyst, Nick McCarthyhas been educated on the process of making a company or product indispensable.

Intuitively or not, he has mastered the same art on the gridiron as a player at Bentley University.

His first three years on the roster, the Winthrop High graduate did not have a defined role. Entering his sophomore year, he did not know if his primary role was on offense or defense.

But as the Falcons prepare for their opener Sept. 6 against visiting Mercyhurst, McCarthy knows that he will line up as the starting strong safety.
