Samko Selected for NEIBA All-Star Game

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University second baseman Mike Samko (Arlington/BB&N) has been selected to play in the 45th annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game.

The game, which pits the Division I All-Stars against the top Division II and III players, will be played at noon Friday at Dunkin Stadium in Hartford, Conn.

Samko, a graduate student during the 2019 season, batted .311 with 52 hits, 33 runs and 27 RBI while starting all 42 games. He was third in the team in batting average, slugging percentage (.413) and on base percentage (.397).

Defensively, Samko made only seven errors and was one of only three players in the Northeast-10 with at least 100 putouts and 100 assists.

Samko, only the seventh player in Bentley history with at least 200 career hits, was selected to the All-Northeast-10 second team. It was the second straight year that the career the four-year starter and .317 career hitter earned All-Conference honors.

Prior to the All-Star Game, a home run derby will be held at 11 am and the NEIBA will present its annual awards.
