Troiani Named Division II National Hitter of the Week by NCBWA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior center fielder Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Mendon HS) has been named the Division II National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Troiani was selected for his efforts in a three-game stretch in which he homered five times, amassed 23 total bases and slugged an incredible 1.769. Overall in three wins, he was seven of 13 with eight RBI and five runs scored.

Troiani's week featured three home runs, all coming to lead off an inning, in a 4-3 win over then fourth-ranked Southern New Hampshire. After opening the game with a homer for the third time this season, he tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning with his second of the contest and hit the game-winner to start the eighth. Troiani was the first Bentley player to hit three homers in a game since the conference shifted to wood in 2002.

Troiani also had three hits, including a home run, in a win over Stonehill and another home run in a 5-2 win over SNHU.

Troiani, who extended his hitting streak to 10 in a loss to Merrimack Wednesday, is hitting .333 with seven home runs, 20 RBI and a .594 slugging percentage.

Troiani, a third-team All-Northeast-10 selection and Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree in 2018, was previously named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week for the second time this season and the NCBWA Division II East Region Hitter of the Week.

Bentley, 14-20 overall and 14-10 against East Region teams, will play a three-game series at Saint Anselm this weekend.
