WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman first baseman Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/ Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) has been named the Rookie Hitter of the Year in the Northeast-10 Conference and was also selected to both the All-Conference second team and the All-Rookie Team.

Bentley was also represented on the All-Northeast-10 team by grad student and right-handed pitcher Bill Sullivan (Carver/Carver), a third-team selection, and Berardino was joined on the All-Rookie team by sophomore right fielder Austin Farry (Watertown/Watertown HS).

Berardino led the Falcons in hitting with his .355 batting average fifth best in the NE10 and the highest by a Bentley player since Charlie Pagliarulo hit .396 in 2010. His on-base percentage (.442) was tenth best in the conference and he also posted a .995 fielding percentage, handling 197 of 198 chances. That was third best among NE10 players with at least 150 total chances.

Berardino's 39 hits included four doubles and a triple, and he also totaled 15 runs scored, 13 RBI, 11 walks, seven hit by pitch and four stolen bases. The first-year collegian hit .407 with runners on base and .395 with runners in scoring position, and reached base 53 percent of the time when leading off innings.

Berardino, whose grandfathers are Red Sox Hall of Famer Dwight Evans and longtime minor league manager Dick Berardino, missed most of March with an injury. After returning to the lineup, the right-handed hitter connected at a .361 clip and hit safely in 17 of 23 games.

Sullivan currently leads the Northeast-10 in innings pitched (94.1), games started (12) and strikeouts with 12 of his school record 90 K's coming in Tuesday's 2-1 10-inning loss to Southern New Hampshire in the first round of the conference championships. After not receiving a decision in that one, he finished his final collegiate season with a 6-5 record, a 2.86 ERA and a .226 opponent batting average.

Sullivan, who pitched only one inning in 2013 and missed all of 2014 due to injury, concluded his career with 193 strikeouts, second most in program history.

Farry, after not seeing any playing time in 2016 and beginning this season as a platoon player, led the Falcons in RBI (22) and was second in batting average (.267). He connected at a .375 clip in a dozen home games and had a 12-game hitting streak, longest by a Falcon since 2015, from Mar. 30 to Apr. 22.
