WALTHAM, Mass. – Grad student Bill Sullivan (Carver/Carver HS) pitched a complete-game four-hitter and freshman designated hitter Ryan Bernardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) played a role in all three of his team's scoring innings as Bentley University recorded a 7-2 win over St. Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division baseball Friday afternoon at DeFelice Field.

Bernardino, seeing his first action since early March, had a pair of RBI doubles, was hit by a pitch  and also scored twice.

The Falcons (3-16-1, 1-1-1 NE10 Northeast) jumped on top with two runs in the bottom of the first. Freshman center fielder Luke Figueira (Taunton/Taunton HS) led off with a single to left, was sacrificed to second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a grounder to short by senior shortstop Justin Ashworth (Orange, Conn./Amity Reg. HS).

Bentley's second run of the first came on back-to-back doubles by sophomore first baseman Brandon Grover (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS) and Berardino.

The Falcons' first three hitters in the fourth all reached with Berardino getting hit by a pitch, sophomore right fielder Austin Farry (Watertown/Watertown HS) hitting a single to left and junior third baseman Peter Bocchino (Saugus/Governor's Academy) drawing a four-pitch walk.

Before the frame was over, all three would score. Berardino came in on a sacrifice fly by freshman catcher Christopher Butler (Danvers/BB&N) and the other two scored on a double to left by Figueira.

Bentley made it 7-0 in the fifth with an RBI double by Berardino and an RBI single by Farry.

Sullivan gave up only one single and faced the minimum during the first seven innings before the Purple Knights (0-6, 0-3 NE10 Northeast) got to him for two runs in the eighth. He didn't issue a walk and struck out six while earning his third win of the spring.

Bentley's nine hits included three by Farry. Although he had an RBI, Ashworth saw his hitting streak halted at 11 as he was 0-for-4.

The same two teams will be back on DeFelice Field Saturday for a doubleheader that begins at noon.
