Nyack Pulls Out 6-4 Win over Bentley with 2 Runs in 10th Inning

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Senior shortstop Ruben Correa (Orlando, Fla.) and sophomore left fielder Gabriel Vasquez (San Juan, P.R) scored during a two-run tenth inning as Nyack College pulled out a 6-4 non-conference win over Bentley University in college baseball action Monday evening at Rollins College's Alfond Stadium.

Correa led off the only extra inning with a single up the middle and moved to second on a mishandled sacrifice that allowed freshman Julio Creazzola (Doral, Fla.) to reach. Vasquez followed with an RBI single, and Vasquez later scored an insurance run on a double to left center by Luke Kelly (Redding, Calif.).

The back-and-forth game saw Bentley score twice in the second to take a 3-2 lead. After junior third baseman Peter Bocchino (Saugus, Mass./Governors Academy) and sophomore left fielder Austin Farry (Watertown, Mass./ Watertown HS) set the table with a hit by pitch and a single, Bocchino scored when Nyack made an error on a sacrifice bunt. Farry put his team in front when he scored on a double to center by freshman catcher Christopher Butler (Danvers, Mass./BB&N)).

The lead disappeared in Nyack's next at bat as the Warriors scored a pair of unearned runs on a two-out single up the middle by Vasquez.

It remained 4-3 until Bentley sophomore Brandon Grover (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS) homered to right with one out.

It was a difficult game for the Falcons, who saw seven errors lead to five unearned runs for Nyack (3-3). Bentley, 1-7, was outhit 11-8 by the Warriors, who received three hits from freshman DH Anthony Torreullas (Lancaster, Pa.).

Farry and Bocchino both had two hits for Bentley.

Bentley will continue its week at Rollins with an 11 am game against Assumption Tuesday morning.
