Sullivan, Farry Lead Bentley to 7-3 Win over Concordia, N.Y.

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Graduate  student/right hander Bill Sullivan (Carver, Mass./Carver HS) struck out ten during eight-plus innings of work and sophomore left fielder Austin Farry (Watertown, Mass./Watertown HS) has four hits and three RBI as Bentley University posted a 7-3 win over Concordia College (N.Y.) in non-conference college baseball Sunday night at Rollins College's Alfond Stadium.

Following a two-run homer by Clipper third baseman Ronmel Ocampo (Levittown, N.Y.) in the second inning, Bentley scored the game's final seven runs, beginning with two in the fourth to tie the game up.

After a walk to sophomore right fielder Brandon Grover (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS), a single to right by Farry and another walk to freshman second baseman Jake Pierce (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater HS) loaded the bases, freshman catcher Christopher Butler (Danvers, Mass./BB&N) reached on an error, allowing Grover to score. The next hitter, freshman center fielder Luke Figueira (Taunton, Mass./Taunton HS), drew a bases-loaded walk, forcing in Farry with the tying run.

In the fifth, Farry put Bentley in front with a two-run double down the left field line. Scoring were freshman first baseman Ryan Berardino (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln Sudbury Reg. HS), who had tripled, and Grover, who had walked.

Bentley added to its lead in the sixth when Figueira led off with an infield single, was sacrificed to second and scored on a single through the left side by Berardino.

Singles by junior third baseman Peter Bocchino (Saugus, Mass./Governors Academy) and Farry started the bottom of the seventh inning. After a sacrifice, Bocchino scored on Butler's single to left.

The Falcons also scored in the eighth, an infield single by Farry bringing in Berardino, who had walked.

In addition to the four by Farry, Bentley's 13 hits included two apiece by Butler, Berardino and senior shortstop Justin Ashworth (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS).

Sullivan's line saw him allow eight hits and three runs while issuing two walks and fanning ten of the 33 batters he faced. Freshman righty Ryan Corriveau (Milton, N.H./Nute HS) came on with the bases loaded for the save, striking out three while allowing only one of the three inherited runners to score.

Bentley, 1-6, will face Nyack College Monday night at 6 pm, also at Alfond.
