RINDGE, N.H. – A septuplet of Franklin Pierce University pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as Division II's third-ranked team blanked Bentley University, 13-0, to complete a sweep of a three-game weekend series in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division baseball Sunday afternoon at Pappas Field.

They were supported by an 18-hit attack that saw 13 different players record at least one, including freshman Ryan Boldwin (Bow, N.H., who had a pinch-hit grand slam in the eighth, Franklin Pierce's third grand slam of the series.

Freshman righty Tanner Putnam (New Boston, N.H.), the first of the seven that the Ravens used on the mound, gave up one hit and struck out three in his three innings of work. Senior righty Tanner Bird (Adams, Mass.), who was credited with the win, yielded two hits in his three innings and the final five pitchers combined to allow one hit in three innings.

Sophomore catcher Christopher Stanford (Quebec City, Que.) drove in three runs for Franklin Pierce (31-4, 9-1 Northeast), including his team's first run of the afternoon. That came on an infield single with two outs in the second, with senor right fielder Max DiTondo (Marshfield, Mass.) coming in from third base.

The Ravens broke it open with five runs in the third, an inning that featured a two-run single to short by Stanford with the runners in motion and two thefts of home on double steals.

Senior shortstop Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.) led Franklin Pierce in hits with three.

Bentley (9-20, 1-9 Northeast) will be back at home Tuesday for a 3:30 pm encounter with Merrimack College.
