TAMPA, Fla. – The fourth hit of the night for Bentley University grad student and center fielder Mike Muir (Bridgewater, Mass./Xaverian Bros. HS), a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th inning, gave their Falcons a wild 11-10 victory over the University of Bridgeport in non-conference college baseball action Tuesday night at the University of Tampa Stadium.

In the bottom of the tenth, sophomore designated hitter Nick Neshe (Waltham, Mass./ Waltham HS) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. After being sacrificed to second, Muir delivered his game-winning hit, lining the ball into left. That came an inning after Bentley had the bases loaded (all via walks) with one out in the ninth and was unable to take advantage.

The game saw a total of 11 runs scored in the first inning with Bridgeport scoring five times and the Falcons countering with six, four of which were unearned. Muir had an RBI triple in the inning to drive in the team's first run.

Two innings later, Bridgeport reclaimed control with four runs on the strength of two hits, two walks and two successful double-steals.

After the Purple Knights (5-4-1) made it a 10-6 game in the sixth, Bentley answered with four runs in the bottom of the tenth to draw even. Muir got it started with an infield single and was the first to score on a three-run triple by senior second baseman Zachary Littman (Abington, Mass./Abington HS). Littman came all the around on the play, scoring the tying run on a tying error.

In addition to stranding three in the ninth, Bentley also left the bases full in the eighth and two on in the seventh. For the game, which included 26 hits and 22 walks by the two clubs, the Falcons stranded an amazing 18 runners.

Muir, Littman and Neshe combined for 10 hits with the latter two both having three. Littman drove in four and scored twice for the Falcons.

Senior righty Will Alden (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) earned the victory with 7.2 innings of quality relief. He struck out six and allowed only one run while yielding five hits and five walks. With runners on base, he allowed only two hits in 12 at bats.

Bridgeport, which went through five pitchers and made five errors, received three hits and three RBI from senior third baseman Alnaydo Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.).

Bentley, 5-8, will begin a three-game series with Minnesota-Crookston Thursday at 10 am at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, Fla.
