Boston Globe West: "Catching up with Kevin Lyons"

Thirteen years ago, former Bentley University catcher Kevin Lyons strung together one of the longest hitting streaks in Division II history, an amazing 39 games!  Marvin Pave, a sports correspondent for the Boston Globe, featured him in Sunday's Globe West "Catching up with series". This appeared online at www.bostonglobe.com.

A three-sport athlete at Waltham High, Lyons is a hard-hitting catcher for the over-30 Braintree Braves, the defending champion of the Massachusetts Amateur Baseball League.

"I still enjoy playing, even though my knees aren't happy about it,'' said the 34-year-old Waltham resident, a sales representative for Oracle America Inc., a software technology firm.

A career .332 hitter in college, Lyons set his batting record with a streak that carried over from the 2001 to 2002 seasons, and that included a bunt hit against Babson his senior year.
