Nagy Selected 1st-Team All-Northeast-10; 2 Falcons Earn All-Rookie Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) was voted to the All-Northeast-10 Conference baseball first team by the conference coaches. It's the second All-Conference nod for Nagy, who was a third-team choice in 2014.

Also recognized by the conference with selection to the All-Rookie team were Bentley freshmen Mike Samko (Arlington/BB&N) and Nick Neshe (Waltham/Waltham HS).

Nagy became the first Falcon in seven years to lead the club in batting average, home runs and RBI as he hit .328, went deep nine times and drove in 25 runs. The six-foot-four 240-pounder ranks first in the conference in home runs per game and is also second in total home runs and third in slugging percentage (.626).

One of the more incredible numbers in regards to the Falcon slugger was his .524 average when he put the ball in play this season. Nagy batted .356 against East Region opposition and. 370 with runners on base.

Nagy finished his career as only the second player in program history to amass at least 20 doubles, 10 triples and 20 home runs. His 21 home runs ranked second in Bentley's wood bat era, his 11 triples was tied for the third most in school history and he improved on his batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage each season.

Samko, one of five Falcons to start all 33 games, batted .272 with 18 RBI, 15 runs scored and .366 on base percentage. He batted a team-high .351 with runners in scoring position and had a solid .966 fielding percentage while splitting time between second base and third. His best game of the season Apr. 12 at Assumption when he was 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs scored and his first career home run.

Neshe became a fixture in left over the final two-thirds of the season and finished with a .250 average with 13 runs scored, 12 RBI and a .358 on base percentage. He was 6 for 20 (.300) with runners in scoring position, and with a runner on third and less than two outs, got the run in five of five times. Five of his RBI came in the second half of a doubleheader Apr. 12 at Assumption.

Bentley finished the season with a 10-23 record with another 11 games cancelled due to weather and field issues.
