WALTHAM, Mass. – With seven different players driving in runs, Stonehill College used 17 hits to double Bentley University, 12-6, in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division baseball Monday afternoon at DeFelice Field.

The Skyhawks, number four in the NCBWA Division II East Region rankings, scored multiple runs in four different innings to improve to 18-9-1 overall and 5-4 in the NE-10 Northeast-10. Bentley, which had a 3-0 lead after three, fell to 3-4 in conference play (5-14 overall).

Bentley jumped on top in the second. Freshman left fielder Nick Neshe (Waltham/Waltham HS) was hit by a pitch, junior catcher Bryan Rocha (Rehoboth/Dighton-Rehoboth HS) walked and a balk put both in scoring position. With two outs in the inning, junior shortstop Zachary Littman (Abington/ Abington HS) plated both with a single to center. It marked the 19th consecutive game he's reached base at least once.

In the third, the Falcons strung together three straight hits to extend the lead to 3-0. Senior center fielder Mike Muir (Bridgewater/Xaverian Bros. HS) singled through the left side, advanced to third on a double by senior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) and scored on a another single through the left side, this one by freshman third baseman Mike Samko (Arlington/ BB&N).

After scoring three times in the top of the fourth to tie the game, Stonehill claimed a lead it would never relinquish with two runs in the fifth on back-to-back RBI singles by senior second baseman Christian Baglini (Milford, Conn.) and junior left fielder Brian Campbell (Franklin).

Stonehill extended its lead to 8-3 with three in the top of the seventh, only to see the Falcons counter in the bottom half to get back within two. Samko picked up an RBI with a bases-loaded fielder's choice and senior first baseman Ryan O'Connor (Newburyport/Newburyport HS) followed with a two-run homer.

The Skyhawks broke the contest open with four runs in the ninth, an inning that saw Campbell score his third run of the afternoon and sophomore first baseman Eddie Bowler (Hingham) drive in his third.

Six Stonehill players had multiple hits, including three apiece by Baglini and junior center fielder Chris Hoyt (Walpole). Bentley's 11 hits included two apiece by Littman, Muir and Nagy.

Bentley is back in action Tuesday with a 3:30 pm game at Merrimack College.
