Academic All-Northeast-10 Baseball Team Includes Brennan & Alden

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University was one of two institutions to place two student-athletes on the 2014 Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference baseball team with recent graduate Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley HS) and rising junior Will Alden (Westford/Westford Academy) representing the Falcons.

Brennan, a first-team All-Northeast-10 selection, was Bentley's starting shortstop in 117 of the team's last 118 games, a stretch that started during his sophomore season. He hit .318 this spring with his 50 hits including 11 doubles, five triples and a double run. He scored 25 times, drove in 24 runs and also excelled defensively with a .951 fielding percentage.

Brennan finished his career with a .307 average and 147 hits. He was tied for 18th in Division II in triples per game this spring (5 in 39 games), and his 164 assists in 2013 was the third-highest total in program history.

Brennan, a corporate finance and accounting major who earned Dean's List honors five times, graduated with a 3.40 GPA.

Alden, after not seeing any game action as a freshman, developed into one of the team's steadiest relievers this year. He appeared in a team-high 15 contests, all but one out of the bullpen, and finished with a 2-3 record, two saves and a 2.72 ERA. Of the seven runners he inherited, only one scored.

Alden, a member of the President's List all four semesters he's been at Bentley, has earned a 3.85 GPA as an economics-finance major.

Bentley finished with a 22-18 record and tied for third in the Northeast-10's Northeast Division.
