Boston Globe South: "Bridgewater’s Mike Muir making a healthy return to Bentley diamond"

Boston Globe sports correspondent John Johnson recently profiled Bentley outfielder Mike Muir, who returned to action this season after injuries sidelined him a year ago. Here's his story, which appeared in the Apr. 3 edition of the Boston Globe South (www.bostonglobe.com).

Two season-ending surgeries might be enough to curtail the career of any athlete.

But not Bentley University center fielder Mike Muir. The sophomore from Bridgewater was sidelined the entire 2013 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The Xaverian Brothers graduate is batting .356 with 10 runs scored, despite managing just one hit in eight at-bats in a three-game weekend series against Southern New Hampshire.

Prior to the SNHU series, the left-handed hitting Muir was coming off a four-game stretch in which he swung at a lofty .588 clip (10 for 17) and earned Player of the Week honors in the Northeast-10 Conference.

"The ball was coming in like a beach ball," said Muir.
