Two Hits, Two RBI for Both Nagy and Korwek as Bentley Finishes Florida Schedule with Win

\WINTER PARK, Fla. – Junior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) and senior catcher Kevin Korwek (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) each had two hits and two RBI as the Bentley University baseball team wrapped up the Florida portion of its schedule with an 8-4 win over Pace University in non-conference play Saturday afternoon at Rollins College's Alfond Stadium.

Bentley completed a 4-2 trip to the sunshine state and improved to 7-8 overall while snapping the Setters' seven-game winning streak.

Down 1-0, Bentley reversed the differential with two runs in the top of the third. Senior designated hitter Lamarre Rey (Lynn, Mass./Pingree School) reached on a bunt single to open the inning, freshman left fielder Bryan Rocha (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth HS) kept the inning alive with a two-out infield single, and junior shortstop Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley HS) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

That brought Nagy, the Northeast-10 RBI leader, to the plate, and he came through with a two-run double to left. The RBI were his 21st and 22nd of the season.

The Falcons stretched the lead to five runs with four in the fourth. Senior second baseman Logan Gillis (Merrimack, N.H./Lawrence Academy) led off with a double and was driven in by Korwek with a single. After a fielder's choice and a double by junior third baseman Nate Witkowski (Melrose, Mass./Malden Catholic HS), junior center fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS)  followed with a double down the left field line, scoring both runners in front of him. Keady stole third and came home with the Falcons' fourth run of the inning on a throwing error.

Bentley stretch its lead to six, 8-2, with two more in the fifth, with Witkowski and Korwek each picking up an RBI.

Single runs for Pace in the eighth and ninth made it an 8-4 game, and the Setters had runners on the corners before Rey came in from the bullpen to get a fly ball for the game's final out, and his second save.

Senior right-hander Jeff Croteau (Auburn, Mass./Auburn HS) pitched the first seven-and-a-third innings for Bentley and earned his third win in four decisions this spring.  He allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) while fanning six.

Everyone in the Bentley starting lineup had at least one hit, and the Falcons' 11 hits included five doubles.

Bentley is scheduled to open its home schedule Wednesday against Stonehill at 3:30 pm.
