WINTER PARK, Fla. – Junior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) homered twice, his fourth and fifth of the season, and drove in six runs as Bentley University scored multiple runs in five different innings en route to a 17-1 win over the University of Bridgeport in non-conference college baseball Monday afternoon at Rollins College's Alfond Stadium.

Everyone in the Falcon lineup had at least one hit as part of a 19-hit, 31-total base attack. Nagy finished with four, and a total of 11 total bases, and both senior second baseman Logan Gillis (Merrimack, N.H./ Lawrence Academy) and senior catcher Kevin Korwek (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) had three hits, including two doubles, and three runs scored.

The beneficiary of the prolific offensive attack was senior righty Jeff Croteau (Auburn, Mass./ Auburn HS), who pitched seven scoreless innings to record his second victory in three decisions. He scattered six singles, walked just one and struck out four.

Bentley, 5-6, jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three in the bottom of the third. Gillis and Nagy had RBI singles to begin the scoring, and Korwek followed with a sacrifice fly.

The Falcons opened the game up in the fifth, adding five runs to their total. Nagy homered to right center, with Gillis, who had doubled, scoring in front of him. Later in the inning, junior third baseman Nate Witkowski (Melrose, Mass./Malden Catholic HS) delivered a two-run single, and junior center fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) followed with a single down the left field line, scoring junior left fielder Will Bermel (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side HS) with Bentley's eighth run.

After scoring three times in the sixth, Bentley pushed its lead to 15-0 with four in the seventh. Nagy and freshman first baseman Evan Mondor (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth HS) both had RBI doubles, Nagy scored on a throwing error, and Bermel had a sacrifice fly.

Nagy, who scored four times in the game, wrapped up Bentley's scoring in the eighth with his two-run homer to right giving him 16 RBI for the season, tying for the conference lead.

The shutout bid was spoiled with two out in the ninth when freshman first baseman Alec Jannotta (Branford, Conn.) homered to right for Bridgeport (2-4).

The two teams will meet again Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
