Gillis & Rey Selected for Futures League All-Star Game

WALTHAM, Mass. – Second baseman Logan Gillis (Merrimack, N.H./Lawrence Academy) and pitcher Lamarre Rey (Lynn/ Pingree School), both juniors on the 2012 Bentley University baseball team, have been selected to participate in next week's Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.

The game will be played Thursday, July 26 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H. with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 pm.

Gillis ranks fourth in the league in on base percentage (.440), fifth in batting average (.356) and sixth in RBI (24) while playing for the FCBL-leading Nashua Silver Knights. His 48 hits include seven doubles and three homers, and he owns a .914 OPS.

The top hitter in the FCBL last year, Gillis has hit .313 in two seasons at Bentley with 120 hits in 95 games. He led the 2012 Falcons in RBI (38), hits (64) and doubles (13).

Rey made the all-star team as a pitcher despite spending most of his collegiate career at first base. He's started six games for the Silver Knights and has a 2-1 record with a 1.59 ERA in 34 innings of work.

During the college season, Rey hit .236, made just two errors in 48 games at first base and appeared in six games as a relief pitcher, with an 0-2 record and a save in 11 innings. His career fielding percentage of .990 is the second best in the program's history.

Bentley posted a 28-23 record this past spring, including 28-14 against NCAA Division II East Region teams and 20-9 in Northeast-10 Conference games.
