WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior right-hander John Yohe (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic HS) has been named the Pitcher of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference and Falcon right fielder Bryant Johnson (Hopedale/Milford HS), a grad student, has been selected as the NE-10 Baseball Rookie of the Week.

Yohe pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 11, tying his career-high, in a 4-0 win at St. Michael's Friday afternoon. Neither of the hits (one to lead off the bottom of the first and the second with one out in the ninth), and Yohe, who needed only 109 pitches, retired 16 in a row at one stretch before issuing his only two walks of the game in the sixth inning. With runners on base, he did not allow a hit in nine at bats.

The shutout boosted Yohe to 5-5 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.55. Opponents are hitting .258 against him, and he has 40 strikeouts and 15 walks in 76 innings.

During a 3-2 week, Johnson hit .474 (9-19) with three doubles, two homers, eight RBI and five runs scored while posting a .583 on base percentage and a .947 slugging percentage. His week included two doubles against Rollins, three hits and three RBI against Merrimack, and a pair of home runs in the first two games of a weekend series at St. Michael's.

Johnson, in his first season of collegiate baseball, is hitting .260 with five home runs, seven doubles and 30 RBI.  He's currently riding a seven-game hitting streak during which time he has batted .440 (11-25) with eight RBI.

Bentley, 25-21 overall and number five in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region rankings, also placed three players on the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll: senior DH/catcher Greg Baggett (East Bridgewater/East Bridgewater HS), grad student and right-handed pitcher Rob Finneran (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City HS) and sophomore left fielder Sean Keady (Norwood/Norwood HS).

Baggett batted .476 (10-21) and slugged 1.048 during the week, with two doubles, two triples, two homers, six RBI and eight runs scored. He was 2-for-6 with three runs scored, a homer and two RBI in a 19-4 win against Merrimack and hit .667 (8-12) during a three-game series at St. Michael's. That included two triples and a double in a 16-0 win and four hits, including his eighth home run in a 6-5 loss. For the season, Baggett is hitting .308 and slugging .608 with 29 RBI.

Finneran pitched six scoreless innings in a 16-0 game one victory Saturday at St. Michael's, limiting the Purple Knights to just two hits while striking out 11. The first seven outs against the grad student came via the strikeout, and he walked three, including two in the first inning, while stretching his scoreless streak to 14.2 innings and winning  his 20th career game. This season, he's 7-3 with a 2.29 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 70.2 innings.

Keady connected at a .458 clip (11-24) and had a .536 on base percentage as the Falcons' leadoff hitter. He scored seven runs, including three runs against Merrimack and St. Michael's (game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader). In four NE-10 divisional games, he was on base in 15 of 23 plate appearances (11-19 with four walks) and he stole six bases. His season average is up to .307, and he leads the club in runs scored (36) and stolen bases (21).

The Falcons finish the regular season this week with a single game at Merrimack Tuesday and a three-game home weekend series with UMass-Lowell .
