GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- Freshman center fielder Mike Muir (Bridgewater, Mass./Xaverian HS) slammed a three-run go-ahead triple in the seventh inning and senior shortstop Vinnie Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass./Winthrop HS) had three hits, including his first career home run, as Bentley University used a 14-hit attack to defeat Adelphi University, 10-5, in Northeast-10 non-divisional baseball Friday afternoon at Bonomo Field.

Bentley, which erupted for seven runs off five Adelphi relievers over the last three innings after the Panthers took a short-lived 5-3 lead, improved to 9-11 overall, including 9-4 against East Region clubs. It was the seventh win in the last nine for the Falcons.

The table was set for the pivotal seventh inning, which began with the Falcons down two and ended with Bentley up 7-5, with a walk to sophomore third baseman Nate Witkowski (Melrose, Mass./ Malden Catholic HS), a single to center by senior left fielder Mark Lane (Tyngsboro, Mass./Tyngsboro HS) and a bunt single by Eruzione.

Sophomore center fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a one-run game, and after senior lefty Chris Pabisch (Dix Hills, N.Y.) came in from the bullpen, Muir greeted him with a bases-clearing double to left center.

Bentley picked up an insurance run in the eighth, with a sacrifice fly by Lane driving in senior catcher Kevin Korwek (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS), who had led off with a double down the right field line.

Two more runs in the ninth broke the game wide open. Senior first baseman Lamarre Rey (Lynn, Mass./Pingree School) doubled down the left field line to drive in right fielder Bryant Johnson (Hopedale, Mass./Milford HS) and an RBI single through the left side by Witkowski send Korwek in from third.

Junior right-hander John Yohe (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic HS) went the distance to earn the win, his second of the season. He gave up nine hits, five coming in the Panther's three-run sixth, and retired the final nine batters he faced. Yohe struck out three and didn't issue a walk.

Yohe was staked to a 2-0 lead when Witkowski and Eruzione went deep, one batter apart in the third. For Eruzione, it was his first in over 660 career plate appearances.

The Panthers struck for five runs in the middle three innings before Bentley amassed nine hits in 17 at bats against the Adelphi bullpen.

In addition to the three hits by Eruzione, Bentley received two hits from Muir, Korwek and Witkowski.  The latter two and Eruzione each scored twice.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday at 1 pm, also at Bonomo Field.
