Bentley University Intramural Ultimate Frisbee Rules

The field being used will be rectangular shaped with end-zones at each end.  The game will be played during two, twenty minute halves, with running time.  End-Zones are 15 yards deep.

Each point begins with both teams up on the front of their respective end-zone lines.  The defense throws (pulls) the disk to the offense.  A regulation game has seven players per team.  A team may start with four players.

Each time the offense completes a pass in the defense’s end-zone, the offense scores a point.  Play initiated after each point.

The disk may be advanced in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate.  Players may not run with the disk.  The person with the disk (thrower) has ten seconds to throw the disk.  The defender guarding the thrower (marker) counts out the stall count.

When a pass is not completed (e.g. out of bounds, drop, block, interception), the defense immediately takes possession of the disk and becomes the offense.

Players may substitute after a score, or during an injury timeout.

No physical contact is allowed.  Picks and screens are not allowed.  A foul occurs when contact is made.

When a player initiates contact on another player a foul occurs.  When a foul disrupts possession, the play resumes as if the possession was retained.  If the player committing the foul disagrees with the foul call, the play is redone.

Players are responsible for their own foul and line calls.  Players should attempt to resolve their own disputes.  However, if an agreement is not reached immediately players should shoot odds and evens a.s.a.p. so play can continue.

Ultimate Frisbee stresses sportsmanship and fair play.  Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play.

Sneakers or turf shoes only. (Molded and metal spikes are not allowed.)

Any player removed from a game by a referee for any reason will be suspended from play in the next scheduled game.  Reasons for removal from a game include, but are not limited to: serious foul play, violent conduct and offensive, insulting or abusive behavior towards a game official and other players.  Further sanctions against the player involved and/or that player’s team may be imposed by the Intramural Director upon review of the incident and will be referred to the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs for possible adjudication through the Student Conduct System.

A player ejected for fighting will be suspended from playing indefinitely, and the altercation will be reported to University Police and referred to the Student Conduct System (see the Bentley Student Handbook at www.bentley.edu).

Referee decisions with respect to play are final.

Captains must email the Intramural Director at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled game to request a rescheduled game and prevent a forfeit.  The rescheduling will be at the mercy of your opponent & space/referee availabilty.  Forfeit penalties:  One forfeit: Loss of $50 forfeit fee, Two forfeits: Removal from the league.
