WALTHAM, Mass. – Men's basketball All-America Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate), record-breaking track and field standout Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) and first-team Google Cloud Academic All-America Jack Hansbury (Tyngsboro/Chelmsford HS) were recently honored as the top senior-athletes in Bentley University's Class of 2019.

Richmond was recognized as Bentley's Outstanding Male Senior Athlete, Mattson was tabbed as the Outstanding Female Senior Athlete and Hansbury received the Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award as Bentley's premier senior scholar-athlete.

Richmond, the number three scorer in Bentley men's basketball history with 2,081 points, was one of only two Division II players nationally to earn All-America honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Google Cloud Academic All-America recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Richmond led the Northeast-10 in scoring with a 23.0 average and also produced 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and one steal a game while averaging a school record 37.5 minute. The Canadian became the first player in program history with three 600-point seasons and was honored with the NE10 Sport Excellence Award for men's basketball as the conference's top scholar-athlete in the sport.

Mattson received a host of honors during a career that saw her break school records 36 times in 13 events. She owns the indoor records at distances from 60 to 600 meters, the outdoor standards in the 200 and 400, and the long jump and triple jump standards both indoors and out.

An 11-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree, five-time NCAA provisional qualifier and five-time Academic All-Northeast-10 selection, Mattson captured the Northeast-10 championship in the long jump earlier this spring. She was also Bentley's nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award and graduated with a 3.98 grade point average while majoring in both actuarial science and business studies.

The Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award is given annually, in memory of the late President of the Boston Garden, a Bentley alumnus and trustee.

Hansbury, the Northeast-10 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, distinguished himself in the classroom over the last four years, achieving a 3.95 GPA while majoring in corporate finance and accounting. The six-foot-three, 290-pounder received the conference's Sport Excellence Award for football and will be returning to Bentley in the fall to pursue his Master's.

Hansbury was durable throughout his playing career, never missing a game or practice since arriving on campus as a freshman. He started every game for Bentley during the last three seasons.
